17 & 18 Nov 2006

Last day on the track and the sun was shining again. The walk through the forest was much more pleasant without the rain. Gary and Meryl met us at the trail head with the bus and we had a quick coffee and lunch in Tuatapere before driving off to Dunedin. In Dunedin we stayed at a lovely bed and breakfast in an ancient home overlooking the city. The others were in exotic rooms called the African room, Art deco room and Victorian room. Lee and I were left with the Ocean room which turned out to be the nicest of the lot in my humble opinion. Sometimes being the shy ones pays off!! But not often :)

That night we had Indian food and you guessed it - New Zealand beer! very good food indeed.

The next morning, some went shopping and some went to the Otago peninsula to the Albatros sanctuary and information center. Then in the afternoon we drove to Timaru to more nice rooms. The town was hoppin with a line dancer competition and a car rally on. We had trouble getting into any place to eat and ended up getting take away and going back to our room to eat. Oh, we also took back some NZ beer to wash it down!
