From Timaru we drove to Christchurch where Tanya and Mark left us to fly back to Queensland. We carried on to Akaroa, a volcanic complex that forms an rounded peninsula jutting seaward from Christchurch. The scenery here was spectacular, even though the day had steadily progressed from sunny to overcast and threatening. We had a beautiful 3 bedroom stone cottage just out of town overlooking the harbor. That evening we had a nice meal in Akaroa looking over the water. I had fish of the day which was very nice.

Next morning we drove to Christchurch and flew off to Perth via Auckland.
All in all it was a very good walking adventure, whirlwind paced but Meryl had us organized so well that every thing ran like clock work.
