While sitting in our little tent out of the flies a helicopter landed in the valley in front of us, hooked something underneath and took off again. Wonder what our tax dollars were paying for there?

Dec 14, Tumut River
Today we had a mostly sunny day with only a slight bit of morning fog. The terrain was a bit hillier and we got the 700 m up, 700 m down average day promised by Chapman, but we got it in about six installments. About half way here is an area called Farm Ridge, where we saw 14 tents pitched. This was probably another Outward Bound group. A couple of km further along the track we caught up to a man and young woman. She had twisted her ankle so was hobbling along slowly. We cruised by Mt. Jagungal 2061 m soon after. We are getting into the high country now. Our actual camp site is about 2.5 km past the Tumut River. We didn't like the Tumut site. It was small and had no shade.
