The walk from Thredbo to Cascade hut climbs for 410 m then levels off before dropping 200 m to the plain the hut is on. The forest here seems to have been largely untouched by the 2003 fires so the trees are actually alive! It took us 5 hours to do the 15 km to arrive here by mid day.
