Carrabin (354.63 km)

Today 42.34 km, average 15.3 kph.

Today we battled 20-25 kph head winds, straight into our faces. We also had two sections of construction, but they were nothing serious and in fact were a bonus because half the road was closed and we got to ride on the 'work' side, 'don't worry mate, they'll watch for you', and the other traffic had the other side and were speed limited to 60 kph.

The nice short day was caused by Southern Cross being too far for us at this stage, particularly with my tendonitis problems. This leaves us with a 65 km ride to S.C. tomorrow. My achillies flared up a bit today, so the short ride was welcome.

Today we are staying at the Carrabin road house. They had no rooms left, so we asked for a tent site, but instead we got a church! They've bought a church from God knows where and as they are still getting organized, there are no real tent sites yet. The church is very comfy.

The people here are nice and for the second day in a row I've been able to bum some ice by telling the sad tail of my sore heel!

No choice but to eat in the road house tonight, though we came prepared to make our own, as we were uncertain what we might find here. Could be the real Ausi burger complete with beetroot and egg. Yummmm! Cholesterol can't be a problem when you're getting a minimum of 2.5 hours exercise a day. Can it?

Footnote: the first stage of the Tour d' France was about 250 km. It took us a week to do that! Should make the bastards pull trailers, I reckon. That'd teach them a bit of humility!
