The lass who first treated me, a Canadian girl from Alberta, is a tri-athlete so she knows a bit about cycling. She says that this injury can take 3-6 weeks or even 6 months to get right but that was no real surprise, given my experience with ilio-tibial tendonitis. However, she seems confident that a week of treatment will get me back on the bike with nightly icing keeping it in control. Me, I'm not so confident, but there's still 2 treatments to go and the improvement has been rapid.
The Plan is to have the 2 more physio sessions, keep the icing going and if it seems prudent, do a short ride on Saturday (20km). If that goes well, then we will try a 40 km ride on Sunday. Any sign of soreness and it's more physio next week.
Meanwhile, Kalgoorlie's not such a bad place to be stuck. There's plenty of good eating places and even some good coffee shops. Yesterday's procrastination was a drive down through Kambalda to Widgiemooltha and back to Kalgoorlie, so we know what our first two days look like. Red Lookout just south of Kambalda has magnificent views of the huge salt lake to the south and east of town.
