May 27 2008 Tagish

Oops, somehow this didn't get posted

Another beautiful day, both scenery and weather wise. We headed up the Alcan passing down through Teslin across a steel bottom bridge that made our truck wiggle around and bob up and down like I sometimes do when I've been watching the footy on Friday night and have one too many beers! It would be absolutely no fun to cycle across. We stopped for fuel and then headed off to Jake's corner where we swung off the Alaska Highway on to highway 8 which took us to Tagish. We got a camp site there and then headed off down to Atlin on highway 7. This was probably the most beautiful drive we've done so far. The road follows a long 5 Km wide lake that is surrounded buy huge glaciated volcanic mountains. Absolutely stunning! We didn't do anything in Atlin, just had a quick look around and did the reverse drive back. We stopped at Mount White about 5 kms from the junction of 7 and 8 to do a 2 km walk up to a mountain goat viewing spot. We saw some white dots on the hill and some of them moved!
