Our drive out of Skagway back over White Pass was uneventful, and although cloudier than when we entered, still beautiful. Our route took us back up to Carcross and then up to Whitehorse where we got a spot at Hi Country RV Park. A nice place but the WIFI does not reach to the outer sites.
In the afternoon we walked part of the extensive trail system that surrounds the Yukon River. We found a parking spot near a foot bridge and walked up river to a place called Canyon City. This was a spot where the Stampeders put their boats ashore and if they were sensible, they took them around the canyon rapids on one of two wooden tram ways set up by rival companies capitalizing on the danger of the rapids. The walking trails today follow these old tram lines. Today a small hydro dam has tamed the rapids but photographs show that they were pretty hair raising stuff.
