May 16 Melide

It rained all day. We saw the bit of the path that the hoods on our
rain jackets would allow. Not much else to say about that!
We booked in to the municipal Albergue, having asked to see our beds
first, a good tactic, and the room we were shown looked OK, but once
we had parted with the Euros (3/person) the true nature of the woman
and place shone through. We were then dragged to a crowded room full
of wet people and bags with no bunks that would let us be together.
Complaints that husband and wife would like to be within shouting
distance were ignored and our nice lady turned out to have been
trained in the Gulags. She pointed at 4 disparate bunks with a 'what's
the problem' shrug. OK.
So, we went for lunch and Gary ran back to find a guy who'd offered us
rooms for 10 Euros each. We had two rooms with two single beds each,
and our own bathroom! A far cry from the gulag and very comfortable
indeed.
For supper we had pizza, Gary and Meryl were more adventurous and had
octopus and black wine, which they drank from bowls, a truly Galician
experience.
